Be seizure aware this International Epilepsy Day – Ní Riada

Sinn Féin MEP Liadh Ní Riada is urging people to make themselves seizure aware for International Epilepsy Day.

The Ireland South MEP said it was important that people educated themselves on the signs of a seizure and what to do if somebody is having one.

“Almost 60,000 people in Ireland suffer from epilepsy, a neurological disorder that commonly causes seizures,” she said.

“That’s why it’s so important that we have an informed public who will know what to do in the event someone with them has a seizure.

“This International Epilepsy Day, I would urge all members of the public to get ‘seizure aware’ and do what they can to inform themselves on how to help someone, should they have a seizure.

“I would like to commend Epilepsy Ireland on the outstanding work that they do on informing the public and urge everyone reading this to log on to epilepsy.ie for more information.”
