CityJet announcement is a strong endorsement of Cork Airport and the region

Sinn Féin’s Liadh Ní Riada welcomed the announcement by CityJet of a new high-frequency service on the Cork to London City Airport route. The Ireland South MEP remarked that the the announcement is a strong endorsement of Cork Airport, and an indicator of the strategic importance of Cork as a transport hub for the region.

“The new CityJet service will come onstream on 1st October this year and will operate three times per day Monday to Friday, with service over the weekend as well. Today’s announcement is a terrific boost for Cork Airport and for the region. Increased connectivity will be vital if we are to build a fair recovery.

“Over 800,000 passengers travel across Cork Airport’s London services annually, and this new service will no doubt increase traffic. This new route will also unlock the great potential of Cork and the wider region to attract even great numbers of tourists.

“A fair recovery from recession must have a real impact in the regions outside of Dublin. I look forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure that Cork and Munster are not left behind.”
